The Writer’s Mindset: How to Get Out of Your Own Way and Work Toward PublicationMay 18th- 12 PM ET

Is your manuscript done and you don’t know what to do next? Is it time to find an agent? Have you decided to self publish? How do you decide and what are the next steps?

Congratulations, you’ve written a book. As you know, getting an agent or traditional deal is only one path to publication. Whether you are looking for an agent or if you have decided to self-publish, the space between finishing writing and starting on the windy path to getting published is where many writers get stuck.

“I recently took two classes with Amy Collins, who is passionate in her desire to support authors. The organization Agents Helping Authors is an example of her commitment. I found Amy to be savvy about publishing, down-to-earth, and funny as hell. Additionally, proceeds from AHA classes go toward providing scholarships for authors to attend writing conferences. It’s a win-win-win.”

Writing a Plot Synopsis Saturday, June 1st at 9 am ET

Yes, you are going to need a full plot synopsis of your novel when you start querying. No, it does not have to be as hard to create as you think!

Literary Agent Amy Collins will work directly with you to create your plot synopsis. She will go over what a synopsis is supposed to include (and NOT include) and then help you streamline and polish your plot synopsis so that you get more requests.

This is a “Two Step” session that will give you the best practices for a synopsis that will impress an agent or editor. THEN, your synopsis will be evaluated, critiqued, and improved so that you can feel confident that what you are sending agents is the best it can be.

“I just want to say again how much I have enjoyed this class. Your professional generosity is so refreshing and valuable. I understand this is an industry of content overwhelm, but I think every single person in our class felt seen and personally guided. I know I certainly have.”

How a Book Becomes a Film or TV Show with Anna Termine

Curious about how a Book or a Manuscript is sold and made into a TV show or Movie?

I have invited Anna Termine to teach us all the basics of what film rights are, the difference between a shopping agreement and an option agreement, and what you can expect if you want to sell your manuscript or book to Hollywood.

This is Film Rights 101 which also shares the realities of how rare and hard it is for a book to become a movie or a show. Anna will cover all that goes into the prep and getting it pitched and then share stories of what happens after.
